Privacy policy
Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 29, 2026
This policy describes what The Hairist ("we", "us") does with the personal information you share when you browse thehairist.com or place an order. We keep it short and plain on purpose: if anything is unclear, ask us at support@thehairist.com.
1. What we collect
We collect only what is needed to run the store:
- Contact details: your name, email address, phone number and the shipping and billing addresses you enter at checkout.
- Order details: the products you buy, your order history and any messages you exchange with our support team.
- Payment information: payments are taken by Shopify Payments, which handles your card data under PCI-DSS rules. We receive a confirmation of payment and the last digits of the card, never the full number, and we do not store card credentials on our systems.
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, the site that referred you and time stamps, gathered automatically as you use the site.
2. Cookies
Our site sets cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart, remember your preferences and measure traffic. Your browser lets you block or delete cookies; if you do, checkout and some other features may not work as intended.
3. Why we use it
- To process, ship and, where needed, refund your orders.
- To answer your questions and provide customer support.
- To detect fraud and protect our customers and our business.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To meet our legal and tax obligations.
- To send you news and offers, only if you have opted in; every such email has an unsubscribe link.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information with third parties only where it is necessary to serve you:
- Our e-commerce platform, which hosts the store and the checkout.
- Shopify Payments and any other payment provider you choose, to complete the transaction.
- Shipping carriers, who receive your name, address and phone number to deliver the parcel.
- Analytics and email service providers, who act on our instructions only.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, in response to a valid legal request, or to protect our rights, our customers or the public. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone for their marketing.
5. How long we keep it
We keep order and contact records for as long as we need them to fulfil the order, handle returns, provide support, satisfy accounting and tax rules and resolve any dispute. When information is no longer needed for any of those purposes, we delete it or strip out anything that identifies you.
6. How we protect it
Traffic between your browser and our site is encrypted with SSL/TLS. Access to customer data inside our business is limited to the people who need it, and our providers are chosen for their own security practices. No system is completely immune to attack, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we take reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures to prevent loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time to show you the personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it, and you can unsubscribe from marketing emails through the link in any message or by writing to us. Send requests to support@thehairist.com; we may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on them.
8. California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights:
- Right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, where they came from and why we use them.
- Right to delete that information, subject to the exceptions the law allows.
- Right to opt out of sale: we do not sell personal information, and if that ever changed we would provide a clear opt-out first.
- Right to equal service: we will never treat you differently for exercising these rights.
To make a CCPA request, email support@thehairist.com with "CCPA Request" in the subject line.
9. Children
The site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with COPPA. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them promptly.
10. Changes
We may revise this policy as the store or the law changes. The current version always lives on this page with its effective date at the top, and material changes will be signalled on the site.
